Major changes lie ahead for the supported housing sector. On 16th April 2026, the Government published its response to the supported housing regulation consultation, confirming the implementation of a licensing regime, housing benefit changes linked to quality, and new National Supported Housing Standards that all providers must meet.
As local authorities, commissioners, and providers prepare for the upcoming changes, attend Westminster Insight’s timely Supported Housing Conference. Expert speakers will share practical guidance to help local authorities and providers prepare for their new responsibilities under Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act (SHROA).
Local authorities will need to have published Local Supported Housing Strategies by 31st March 2027. And work is ongoing to develop the National Supported Housing Standards. We will explore the practical considerations for providers and local authorities. We will consider the plans to introduce licensing, the exemptions, and plans to tackle poor-quality temporary accommodation.
New Government funding aims to boost supply and improve quality through the Social and Affordable Homes Programme. Â Shahi Islam, Director of Affordable Housing, Homes England will cover the Social and Affordable Homes Programme 2026-2036, backed by ÂŁ39 billion in funding, and with bidding having opened in February 2026. How will the SAHP support the delivery of specialist and supported housing, including schemes for older people? Hear about the programme details and learn how to align bids with government priorities and local needs.
You will hear next steps for targeted funding streams to support vulnerable groups such as the Reducing Veteran Homelessness programme and the Homelessness Prevention Grant. Gain insight into the new National Plan to End Homelessness.
Join our legal surgery to understand your legal obligations, including the impact of Awaab’s Law and the Renters’ Rights Act on tenancies and rights within supported housing.
