Course Summary

Tenancy fraud costs the UK up to £1 billion each year and denies homes to those who genuinely need them.  Our Tackling Tenancy Fraud online training course equips you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify, prevent and address tenancy fraud effectively.

As a registered provider, you have a responsibility to take proactive steps to prevent and tackle tenancy fraud. This half-day interactive course explores the full range of tenancy fraud issues, including unlawful subletting, non-occupation, succession fraud and Right to Buy fraud.

Gain an understanding of the impact tenancy fraud has on housing services and local communities, while exploring effective prevention strategies to reduce risk. Examine how data, intelligence and reporting mechanisms can be used to support proactive fraud detection through tenancy audits, verification checks and data matching exercises.

Our expert trainer, Nicola Evans, will lead several interactive sessions focusing on real-life scenarios and sample investigations. Engage with case studies from other organisations and discuss how different teams are responding to tenancy fraud challenges.

Consider the steps that make up the investigation process, from gathering and managing evidence to conducting enquiries and weighing up next steps. Build awareness of resolution options and enforcement action, including recovery of properties, possession proceedings and prosecution, so you’re better placed to consider the appropriate response when fraud is identified.

By the end of the course, you will be better equipped to protect valuable housing stock, support fair access to housing and strengthen your organisation’s response to tenancy fraud.
