Event Summary
Join Westminster Insight’s Early Years Inspections Digital Conference, a timely one-day for early years providers focused on inspections under the renewed Education Inspection Framework.
With inspections moving to a four-year cycle from April 2026, alongside the introduction of a new five-point grading scale, report cards, revised monitoring arrangements, and the Early Years Inspection Toolkit, take away practical guidance to help you prepare confidently for your next inspection.
Through case studies and examples of effective practice, the conference will explore the seven key focus areas for early years inspection: safeguarding, inclusion, curriculum and teaching, achievement, behaviour, well-being, and leadership and governance.
You will hear directly from school leaders who have already been inspected under the new framework, gaining insight into what to expect at every stage of the process, from the planning call and on-site inspection activity to grading and the final feedback meeting.
Our expert speakers will explain the role of the nominee, how case sampling and shared observations work in practice, and what inspectors look for when assessing leadership, governance, and the quality of provision.
We will explore the reformed grading system including what constitutes an ‘expected’, ‘strong’, or ‘exceptional’ standard and how to evidence high-quality practice. Sessions will focus on how to strengthen parental engagement, including how to help parents and carers to understand the new report cards and grades.
We will share approaches to self-assessment and continuous improvement, and benchmark your own practice against the statutory requirements of the EYFS.
At the heart of the new framework is a specific focus on “inclusion”, so how can you embed and evidence inclusion in your setting? Inspectors will look closely at how well early years settings support all children, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Under the new safeguarding evaluation criteria, schools receive a judgement of ‘met’ or ‘not met’. Gain insights on how to demonstrate statutory compliance and best practice, embedding a culture of vigilance where staff feel confident to speak up and act in the best interests of children. Ensure that safeguarding requirements are also met in out-of-school settings.
Join us online for a full day of best practice sharing and networking, and to deepen your understanding of the new inspection framework. Drawing on examples from primary and infant schools and nurseries, we will share good practice to ensure your team is skilled, supported, and inspection ready.
