Course Summary
All organisations who process confidential information about patients and service users to deliver publicly funded services which relate to the health service, adult social care or adult carer support in England are required to have a Caldicott Guardian. This training is designed for anyone fulfilling the role of Caldicott Guardian in any setting, including NHS Trusts, hospitals, community services, local authority providers of adult social care, care homes, GP practices, pharmacies and hospices.
Caldicott Guardians play a vital role in ensuring that health and social care data is used legally, ethically and appropriately to support the delivery of better care. We will discuss the Caldicott Principles, and how to apply them in health and social care settings.
In this highly interactive one day course, new and expert Caldicott Guardians will have the opportunity to learn about information sharing to enable joined-up care and how to demonstrate their organisation’s ethical, lawful and appropriate use of information.
Learn how to strengthen public trust with a robust strategy that protects patient confidentiality. Explore risks through impact assessments (DPIA), including consent and opt out options.
We will explore the role of the Caldicott Guardian and the interaction with other roles such as the SIRO and DPO. Gain a deeper understanding of your duties and receive the latest guidance. Raise your own challenges in a confidential space and receive expert advice and legal guidance. Leave the day confident that you understand and can apply the Caldicott Principles.
