Event Summary
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games was the first Olympics ever to achieve full gender parity – with an equal allocation of 50% male and 50% female athletes competing. However, significant challenges remain. There are gaps in education, sportswear, kit, equipment, research, and funding. There is a lack of understanding of women’s health, and women’s experiences of sports are often affected by menstrual cycles, puberty, fertility, pregnancy, and menopause. Harmful practices disproportionately affect women, such as body shaming, stereotyping, and bullying.
Westminster Insight’s popular Women and Girls in Sport Conference returns to discuss these inequalities, the vision, and next steps.
Chaired by Stephanie Hilborne OBE, CEO of Women in Sport, you will hear from expert speakers who will share practical advice to help you create a culture where women feel valued, safe, and included. Take away best practice, expert insights, and practical advice to help you drive forward gender equality and nurture female talent in sport, from recreational to elite levels across the UK. Understand how to challenge gender stereotypes and boost girls’ confidence to participate in a diverse range of sports.
From pregnancy and motherhood to menopause, we will spotlight how to support female athletes at different life stages. Develop kits and facilities that are inclusive and designed to support women. Learn how to raise awareness of women’s health issues across your leadership teams and develop environments where women can succeed.
We will hear about programmes designed to encourage more women into coaching and leadership positions and share learnings from recent initiatives in sports research for women.
Don’t miss your opportunity to network with colleagues and hear from trailblazing organisations, policy makers and inspiring female athletes. Play your part in delivering true equality of opportunity in sport.
