Event Summary

2025 was a golden year for women’s sport – with record-breaking viewership, attendance, commercial investment, and major tournament wins for the Lionesses (Euros) and Red Roses (Rugby World Cup).

Westminster Insight’s fourth annual Equal Access to Sport for Women and Girls Conference brings together influential voices from across sport, research and education.

Chaired by Stephanie Hilborne OBE, Chief Executive of Women in Sport, this conference will explore the impact of major initiatives such as the creation of the Women’s Sport Taskforce, new investment in international women’s events and grassroots sport, and Government plans to ensure equal access to school sport. How can we ensure that every woman and girl has access to high-quality sporting opportunities and can thrive at every level of participation?

As women’s athletic performance continues to rise, we will examine how coaches, clubs, and governing bodies can strengthen safeguarding, prevent discrimination, and tackle racismmisogyny, and online abuse.

We will cover the role of leadership, governance and accountability in creating equal opportunities for women in sport. Including improving representation of women on boards and across the workforce, and the evolving role of coaches and leaders in creating safe and inclusive environments.

With a third of women aged 41-60 not meeting the Chief Medical Officer’s guidelines of 150 minutes of physical activity per week, we will examine initiatives to widen access to sport throughout the women’s lifecycle – from puberty through to menopause and later life.

We will address one of the biggest challenges: girls’ participation in sport. With 24% fewer girls than boys playing team sports in England, and many disengaging during puberty, how can schools, clubs, and local partners close the enjoyment gap and ensure girls continue to enjoy sport? We will explore the progress of new initiatives such as School Sport Partnerships, School Games, and the Enrichment Framework, designed to guarantee equal access to sport and extracurricular activities for all young people.

We will share practical insightscase studies, and innovative approaches to engage women and girls of all ages. Don’t miss this opportunity to network and play your part in shaping the future of equal access to sport.
