Course Summary

With a growing number of pupils who use English as an Additional Language (EAL), it is imperative that schools can provide an environment where they can achieve and have access to the curriculum.

This course covers key aspects of EAL provision. It provides teachers in primary and secondary schools with the tools to make adjustments in the mainstream classroom, allowing you to fully integrate and support pupils with different languages and backgrounds.

Understand how to plan and prioritise provision for EAL pupils. Foster a cognitively stimulating environment to motivate pupils and use social cues to bridge gaps between pupils and their peers.

This highly interactive half-day course will draw on research from Dr Naomi Flynn’s Talk-Rich Teaching, who will share best practices from the enduring principles of learning, and practical examples from schools that have made oracy work.

Attend this course to develop child-centred approaches to improve the attainment of EAL pupils in your school.
