Course Summary

“Safeguarding children is a critical public service. It is unrelentingly complex, difficult, and reliant on a wide range of services working together”*

Join Westminster Insight’s Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews digital workshop for practical guidance on preparing for Reviews. Led by Suzy Kitching MBE, an author for Local Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, this interactive course will provide the latest guidance and insights to help you develop best practice.

Understand why safeguarding partnerships undertake local child safeguarding practice reviews, how the Reviews work, and your role and responsibilities as a safeguarding practitioner.

The revised Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 guidance provides the statutory framework and requirements for undertaking child reviews from notification of a significant incident to the commissioning and undertaking of a review and publishing the learning report. This workshop will take you through the process and help you reflect on what an effective review looks like and what you can do to prepare.

Explore the evidence base from reviews, what are some of the challenges, what can make a difference to multi-agency practice and how learning across the safeguarding system can be supported. Understand how to manage expectations and engage with families and children throughout the process.

This half-day online workshop will bring together audiences from local safeguarding arrangements, local authorities, children’s services, health, police, education, and the voluntary sector. Learn, interact, and discuss practical issues in groups and take part in scenarios, such as an example of a multi-agency rapid review, with feedback from the experts.
