Davina Brown
Chair of Race Equality Network
London Borough of Croydon
My name is Davina Brown, I am a Commissioner at Croydon Council and chair the Race Equality Network for staff. I have a passion to raise awareness around equality, address barriers to progression and advocate on behalf of staff. I was elected to the role as network chair in June 2020, since then I have expanded my leadership skills and knowledge. With support from my executive team, the network is now a strong collective of 400 + members. We host regular online events covering wellbeing, hard truths, financial focus, tea talks, Windrush, Black History Month, South Asian Heritage Month as well as book and film clubs.
The Race Equality Network provides support and motivation for staff and has influenced change within the organisation. Including diverse interview panels, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Board, Croydon Equality Pledges and George Floyd Race Matters Pledge.
