Dr Laura Steele is a Senior Lecturer in Business and Society and Director of Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability at Queen’s Mangement School, Belfast. Laura’s teaching and research interests lie at the intersection between ethics, responsibility, sustainability, and technology, particularly in regard to applications of AI. Having previously published on AI, leadership, and HRM, Laura is currently working on an edited text titled ‘AI and Work: Transforming Organisations and Society in an Age of Insecurity’ with Professor John Bratton due to be published by Sage in 2024. In 2019, Laura developed a new postgraduate module on Artificial Intelligence in Business and Society as part of Queen’s Management School’s MSc in Business Analytics programme. 

Outside of Queen’s University, Laura is actively involved in the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), where she serves on both the UK and Ireland Chapter Steering Committee and the international PRME Champions Group. Prior to becoming an academic, Laura worked extensively across the private, public, and third/voluntary sectors, for organisations including the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Special EU Programmes Body, and Politics Plus. As a result, she has a particular interest in public policy related to the regulation and governance of AI and personal data in the UK and beyond. 

Maria is a globally recognised, award-winning AI ethics expert, public policy contributor, a member of various Advisory Boards – UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on AI (APPG AI) & SKEMA AI Institute, and Chair of techUK Data and AI leadership committee. She is PwC’s Responsible AI lead, managing the company’s efforts in deploying responsible and ethical AI and data across the UK business, its operations and clients. Maria is a passionate advocate for children’s rights in the age of AI, serving as a member of the Advisory Board for UNICEF #AI4Children and World Economic Forum Generation AI programmes. She also serves as an Intellectual Forum Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge researching human-centric AI and the intersection between tech policy and ethics.

Adrian Weller is a Director of Research in machine learning (ML) at the University of Cambridge. He has broad interests across machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), their applications, and helping to ensure beneficial outcomes for society, including: explainability, fairness, robustness, scalability, privacy, safety, ethics and finance. He holds a Turing AI Fellowship for Trustworthy Machine Learning.

Adrian is Programme Director for AI at The Alan Turing Institute (UK national institute for data science and AI), where he is also a Turing Fellow leading work on safe and ethical AI. He is Programme Director for Trust and Society at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI); an advisor to the Centre for Science and Policy (CSaP), and the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER); and a fellow at Sidney Sussex College.

Adrian serves on the boards of several organizations. He is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global AI Council, and is co-director of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) programme on Human-centric Machine Learning. Previously, Adrian held senior positions in finance. He continues to be an angel investor and advisor.

Professor Alastair Denniston is an NHS consultant and leader in the evaluation and regulation of AI health technologies, based at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, and the Centre for Regulatory Science and Innovation (Birmingham, UK). His Research and Policy Group explore how we can ensure that AI health technologies are effective, safe and equitable, and improve patient care in the ‘real world’. He has a particular focus on ethical data architecture, and ensuring that the data foundations of AI are inclusive and representative, such as through the STANDING Together initiative. He founded INSIGHT, the UK’s Health Data Research Hub for Eye Health, jointly leads the international reporting guidelines for clinical trials of AI health technologies (SPIRIT-AI and CONSORT-AI) and is a Member of the UK Government’s Regulatory Horizons Council.

I am a Machine Learning Engineer specialized in Sensor Fusion and applied Artificial Intelligence. Over my career, I have collaborated with companies and institutions in the field of eHealth and health tech. I am currently working in Cambridge, UK, for FocalPoint Positioning, a cutting-edge startup operating in the field of navigation systems and motion-tracking technologies. Beyond my professional career, I am active as an academic lecturer and online content creator.

Gilbert is a Privacy technologist, entrepreneur and commentator. Previously Chief Strategy Officer at Pool Data and CEO at Tapmydata, VC-funded startups building tools for data control and portability. He now advises brands, boards and blockchain projects on data strategy and execution as a NED, and is Industry Commissioner to the UK’s Data & Marketing Regulator.

After a career in Finance, as MD of a London digital agency Gilbert grew fascinated by the relationship between data, digital marketing and regulation, founding Optanon, a pioneering software product in the PrivTech sector, and Cookiepedia, knowledge base for consumer tracking on the Web.

After a sustained period of organic growth and profit, these businesses were acquired by OneTrust and Gilbert led the deal, migration of legacy clients, team and technology while establishing new operational units across Europe.

On a voluntary basis, Gilbert was Chair of the Responsible Marketing Committee for the DMA, having previously Chaired the Mobile & Connected Council. He is a supporter of Tech London Advocates in the areas of Creative Tech & Blockchain, and acts as Privacy Spokesperson for the group.

Dr Chao Li is a Reader in Biomedical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Dundee and Principal Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge. Before he started his research adventure at Cambridge, Dr Li completed his clinical training in neurosurgery and neurology covering major neurological conditions. At Cambridge Mathematics Information in Healthcare and Cambridge Brain Tumour Laboratory, he acquired his expertise in modelling neurological diseases based on novel AI and multi-omics approaches. Dr Li is particularly interested in developing cost-effective AI models and translating these models into healthcare management to promote personalised medicine. His work has been published widely in clinical and technical venues, including Nature Machine Intelligence, Brain, IEEE Transactions in Medical Imaging, MICCAI, etc. He has been awarded a fellowship from the Guarantors of Brain, supporting him to develop novel translational AI approaches for clinical neurosciences. In 2021, due to his contribution to the neuro-oncology research, he is awarded as the Young Investigator Award of the year, by British Neuro-Oncology Society and Brain Tumour Research.

Stephen Price is the Professor of Neurosurgical Oncology and Hon. Consultant Neurosurgeon in Cambridge. He is the surgical lead for neuro-oncology and has a clinical interest in surgical oncology for gliomas, awake craniotomy and brain mapping, fluorescence guided surgery and patient reported outcomes.
His research interest is in using advanced MRI and PET imaging to understand pathological changes in the tumour and surrounding brain, as well as cognitive outcomes in brain tumour patients. His Precision Surgery programme aims to develop individualised surgical treatment volumes for patients to maximise the amout of tumour we remove and minimise morbidity. He is the Co-Director of the CRUK-Minderoo Brain Cancer Virtual Institute and the Director of the Cambridge Brain Tumour Imaging Laboratory. He is the chief investigator for the PRaM-GBM study (prediciting sites of tumour progression in newly diagnosed glioblastomas) and SCARF-BT – a rehabilitation feasibility trial for emotional recognition in brain tumour patients. He has a strong interest in training and is a member of the Neurosurgery Specialist Advisory Committee for training and is the Chair of the European Association of Neuro-oncology (EANO) Education Committee.

As Head of Data and Analytics for UKTV, Andy works predominantly on their video on demand product, UKTV Play. He is responsible for all elements of the customer data journey including digital analytics, data management, governance & strategy, ad tech, data science and visualisation.

He has worked in media and advertising for nearly 20 years in a range of roles. He founded the marketing science team at the BBC, and has also led the marketing science function at PHD UK. In previous roles, he has worked as an economist, analyst, strategy consultant and market researcher
