One in 14 adults have experienced threats to share intimate images in England and Wales, rising to one in seven among young women.* With an increased number of people reporting image-based abuse and the Law Commission publishing recommendations in 2022, how can we ensure effective policing of image-based sexual abuse (IBSA) while supporting victims? What more can be done to work towards prevention and stop perpetrators?
Join Westminster Insight’s Tackling Image-Based Sexual Abuse digital conference to gain key insights from policymakers, practitioners, the CPS, and police to understand what’s next for tackling IBSA. The new Labour Government has pledged to halve violence against women and girls within a decade; explore how future legislation can safeguard victims, improve prosecutions, and deter potential perpetrators from committing IBSA.
As technology develops, so does the risk of image-based abuse. From the growing prevalence of revenge pornography to the creation of deepfakes and AI-generated images, understand how technology providers, social media platforms, and other agencies can work together to protect people, identify trends and reduce the risk of IBSA.
We will explore the link between gender-based violence and image-based sexual abuse; why does image-based abuse happen, and how can we move towards prevention? Spotlighting cyber flashing and revenge porn, understand how to embed a tailored approach to tackling IBSA specific crimes to ensure IBSA is taken seriously and encourage victims to come forward.
Don’t miss the opportunity to network with colleagues, discuss future legislation, and gain practical takeways to help you and your organisation tackle IBSA.
The event was great with good key speakers. The event reassured me that the SNA and strategy we have drafted will be compliant with the duty.
