Event Summary
What does the future look like for racial inclusion in your workplace?
Next March, join Westminster Insight’s Race Equality in the Workplace Conference in London to learn about the practical steps your organisation can take to build an ethnically inclusive working environment.
Chaired by Sandra Kerr CBE, you will hear from a diverse panel of DEI specialists, legal experts and senior leaders from across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
How do you build a gifted, diverse, and high-performing workforce? Engage with best practice case studies to improve transparency and remove unconscious bias in hiring processes and career progression. Empower ethnically diverse employees to succeed and progress at work, from apprentices and graduates through to senior managers and board-level executives. Break down the employment barriers through an intersectional approach.
We will focus on diversification in senior roles and learn about the ongoing work to improve the ethnic diversity of UK businesses. Learn about the core actions for leadership to drive equality, diversity and inclusion and inspire positive change. You will gain practical takeaways from Rebecca Ajulu-Bushell, CEO of The 10,000 Interns Foundation on supporting ethnic talent from the point of entry into the workforce and throughout careers.
Understand the implications of new Employment Rights legislation for HR and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policy and practice. In the King’s Speech, it was announced that legislation on race equality would be published to enshrine the full right to equal pay in law. The proposed Equality (Race and Disability) Bill will introduce mandatory ethnicity pay reporting for employers of 250+ staff.
As employers start to prepare for future changes, it is crucial to understand how you can remedy inequality and tackle disparity in your workplace. Be ready to publish data around pay, progression, recruitment, and retention. With data-driven EDI reporting strategies, ensure you are measuring the impact of racial equality initiatives, and sharing solutions with peers across departments and sectors.
You will hear lived experience from Black, Asian, Mixed-Race and ethnically diverse employees, as they shed light on the reality of race equality in the workplace. Speakers will share guidance for employers on training ‘active bystanders’, and encouraging open conversations. Develop an anti-racist action plan to improve workplace cultures.
We will provide practical guidance to help you update your policies and strategies, ensuring a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Create reporting and referral mechanisms to encourage employees to speak up.
Join us in March to network with diversity, inclusion and HR professionals, employee network members, and leaders who are committed to tackling racial inequality at work. Through award-winning case studies, expert panel sessions, personal journeys, and keynote sessions, we will spotlight the actions that employers can take to address racial inequalities at work.
Make a commitment to improving equality of opportunity in your workplace.
