Event Summary

The current unemployment rate for all ages is 4.5%, while the youth unemployment rate stands much higher at 14.5%. 946,000 young people aged 16 to 24 in the UK are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

The Government’s new Youth Guarantee aims to ensure that every 18 to 21-year-old in England gets access to education, training, or help to find a job or an apprenticeship.

Westminster Insight’s timely new conference will bring together teams from government, employers, colleges, and skills providers to discuss policy priorities and next steps. You will learn about the latest interventions to prevent young people from becoming economically inactive including the Youth Employability Programme, Youth Hubs and Youth Trailblazers.

Attend to find out how other local areas are tackling youth employment through partnerships with educational training providers, and by improving access to mental health services, work experience and careers advice. Hear about the development of local transition plans for young people who are at risk of becoming disengaged.

Explore the role of the newly established Skills England in tackling area-wide skills gaps. You will learn how to engage employers to improve opportunities through apprenticeships, training, and work experience. Find out how to support young people transitioning from education to employment.
