Helen Dyer has spent more than 35 years as a Registered Nurse and Senior Manager. She has studied and worked in Public and Private sectors, across Primary and Secondary care, as commissioner and provider, with adults and with children. For the past 4 years Helen has been the Clinical Director for Checked Ltd providing consultancy services to private and public sector organisations.

In 2012 Helen was told she must add the role of Caldicott Guardian to her portfolio of responsibilities. Having never previously heard of the role, she began her exploration of Confidentiality. In 2015 she joined the UK Caldicott Guardian Council and helped create the UKCGC Caldicott Guardian Manual and national training modules for Caldicott Guardians. Helen recently established and leads the monthly UKCGC Breakfast Club and coordinates and delivers learning events and evening classes for Caldicott Guardians from all sectors across the UK.

Dr Claire Bloomfield is the Director of NHS England’s Centre for Improving Data
Collaboration, which she joined in June 2021. As the Senior Responsible Officer for the Data
for Research and Development programme, Claire oversees development and delivery of
the Transformation Directorate’s coordinated investments in health data for R&D, to support
the ambitions of the Life Sciences Vision, Vision for future of UK Clinical Research Delivery
and Genome UK. Her team supports investments to enable R&D and innovation using health data with a goal to improve patient care, including clinical trials operations and infrastructure investment in
Trusted Research Environments.

With over 23 years in the NHS, Oliver has expansive executive leadership skills in transformation, communications, public engagement, programme management and IT, with over 12 years at director level.

Prior to joining PRSB in 2022, Oliver completed a secondment to set up the highly successful national Covid-19 vaccination programme. He has held responsibility for the development and delivery of commercial partnerships with public, private and third sector organisations, particularly in the field of at-scale transactional, technology, clinical and consulting services.

Nicola is the Head of Understanding Patient Data, responsible for setting the direction of UPD with the support and sign-off from the UPD Steering Group. She joined UPD from the UK Health Security Agency, where she was the Head of Delivery within the Data Operations directorate, leading projects and programmes to enable better use of health data to drive public health action.

Nicola has been working within the field of health data for the last three years, including holding the role of secretariat for the Goldacre Review on the use of health data for research and analysis. Prior to this, she has worked on other digital and data programmes across the Civil Service, as well as holding policy and project delivery roles, in government departments such as the Home Office, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Nicola is passionate about using data in safe and secure ways to improve health, and promoting effective community engagement

Taj is an Information Lawyer, who specialises in all aspects of information law, including intellectual property, data protection, data privacy, as well as contracting. Taj is an experienced lawyer and has held both national and international posts, working with public, private and non-for-profit client’s sector, including universities. He sits on the Mental Health Data Ethics panel at the University of Oxford. Taj helps organisations shape their data strategy and how they can use data to benefit society, as well as meet their own organisational goals. He advises on what your approach to intellectual property should be, and he prides himself in implementing advantageous and lawful data access models whilst also ensuring it remains ethically sound, and always transparent.

Andrew is an ambitious, highly respected, and motivated Information Governance (IG) and Data Protection professional who, since 2005, has worked with a variety of healthcare information processes across the NHS and private, including provider, shared business, commissioning and, from summer 2023, a healthcare IT supplier, Graphnet Health.

His approach to IG is simple, as demonstrated in the definition he created in his application for his former role as Head of IG/DPO at what is now University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust:

“Ensuring the organisation and its staff have a person-centred approach to managing the personal and sensitive information of its patients and staff, treating it and the organisation’s corporate information in a similar manner to which they would expect their own Medical Records or banking information to be treated.”

He works with passion and enthusiasm to maintain the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of patient and staff data, alongside corporate information. Andrew thoroughly believes that when it is expertly managed, it improves the experience and quality of care that patients receive, complementing the maintenance of the organisation’s reputation.

He is an Accredited Member of the Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) and was Nominated for its 2017 “Professional of the Year” Award. In 2018 he was nominated for the Information Commissioner’s Office “Data Protection Practitioner’s Award,” and winner of the IRMS “Author of the Year Award”. In 2020 he was made a Fellow of the IRMS.

Out of work Andrew is a passionate, proud, and geeky life-long fan of “Doctor Who”, with a particular penchant for the 1960s Patrick Troughton era.

He lives in West Sussex with his wife and pigeon pair of twins.

Originally from Stoke on Trent Barry Trained as a nurse in the RAF in 1973. In 2000 he became the Data Protection Officer at West Suffolk Hospital.  In 2003 he founded and has since chaired the Eastern Region IG Forum. The forum has around 200 members, with 45 out of 50 attending the meetings held in Cambridge.

Barry is the former chair of the NHS National Strategical Information Governance Network (SIGN) group. (2015 – 2018)

Barry was the Head of IG and Health Records at 2 Acute Trusts in Suffolk & Essex from September 2017 to July 2018 on secondment to the local STP looking at information sharing and GDPR for Health & Social Care.

He is a keynote speaker at national conferences, with a down to earth pragmatic approach Data Protection/IG, as well as chair and speaker at the Excellence in Health Care Conferences (Oscar Krane).

In the summer of 2018 Barry left the NHS and became a Data Protection/Privacy Consultant and founded BJM IG Privacy Ltd, delivering training for HealthCare – UK, outsourced DPO services for Herts & West Essex ICB, Private Health, 6 Hospices and consultancy for local authorities

In 2019/20, Barry initiated conversations with the Apprenticeship Institute for a Data Protection Practitioner Apprenticeship and on 30th March 2022 the apprenticeship Level 4 as Data Protection and Information Governance Practitioner was approved for delivery. The 1^st cohort entering End Point Assessment Oct 2023

Three notable awards were given to Barry in 2020; The ICO Excellence in Data Protection 2020 and IRMS Lifetime Achievement Award. National SIGN Practitioner of the Year Award 2021.

Adam has established an enviable reputation as a leading Information Governance expert, with detailed knowledge of all areas including information related laws, international information security standards, NHS regulations and guidance. Adam is particularly adept at enabling all levels of staff to understand and follow information governance requirements and identifying and implementing solutions to the IG challenges of any project or programme. Adam is qualified as a practitioner in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Freedom of Information Act and as an Information Security Lead Auditor.

Michelle Corrigan is the Programme Director for Better Security, Better Care which supports adult social care providers to improve their data and cyber security by completing the Data Security and Protection Toolkit. Michelle oversees the programme which delivers free expert support through a national team and 28 local support organisations throughout England. Better Security, Better Care is led by a programme board which includes: the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Transformation Directorate, the Local Government Association, the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, and Digital Social Care on behalf of care providers.

Michelle has spent 15 years in and alongside the social care sector with a background rooted in operational delivery and innovation within adult and children’s social care. She has worked on national telehealth and telecare programmes, as well as the roll out of GDPR in the sector.
