Event Summary

Our annual Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education Conference will take place on Monday 30th September. Join us in London or online for your opportunity to strengthen your approach to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Students from minority ethnic, disabled, LGBTQ+, and low socio-economic backgrounds still face barriers to learning which stop them from reaching their potential. In England, disadvantaged students are more likely to drop out of higher education compared to other students.*

Through a series of expert-led sessions and case studies, we will share practical guidance and expertise to help you monitor diversity, improve experiences, and increase student retention:

  • We will spotlight the experiences of LGBTQ+ students in HE and learn about successful initiatives implemented in other universities.
  • We will share practical guidance and support for disabled students. How can you create accessible and inclusive environments for disabled students and remove barriers to learning?
  • We will address the ethnicity degree awarding gap, and what works to address it.
  • You will hear about recent updates to equality legislation, including the law on bullying and harassment, and the implications for students and staff.
  • We will address specific workforce EDI issues. The under-representation of female, disabled, and ethnic minority staff in senior roles shows that there are barriers to career progression within HEIs. Enable institutional change by creating inclusive, diverse and accessible workplaces.

Don’t miss this opportunity to network with colleagues and hear directly from D&I experts and university leaders from across the UK. Take away inspiration to drive inclusion and change in your HE institution.
