Event Summary

Students from protected characteristics groups such as LGBTQ+, minority ethnic, disabled, and female, plus those from low socio-economic backgrounds, still face major challenges at university. Changes must be made to ensure that all students have an equitable chance to achieve their full potential in higher education.

In 2022, only half of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students said they would choose the same university again.* By the age of 25, the average male graduate still earns 5% more per year than the average female graduate.** The experience of LGBTQ+ students in higher education is improving but further steps should be taken to improve support.*** Inclusive and accessible learning for disabled students must be a priority for universities, with a recent report demonstrating clear room for improvement.****

Westminster Insight’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education Conference will address key challenges facing HEIs, and showcase best practice from across the UK.

Leaders from across the sector will share their approaches to improving student experience and outcomes by prioritising equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). We will examine initiatives aimed at supporting disadvantaged students.

We will highlight areas where improvements can be made to improve diversity and inclusion across the entire student experience – from admissions, to student life, through to career advice and student services. We will spotlight challenges faced by disabled students.

Understand your legal responsibilities and duty of care to support students. Hear from experts on how to effectively deal with discrimination, bullying and complaints.

Join us face-to-face in Central London or online for the opportunity to learn from experts who are leading the way to create inclusive university experiences, and strengthen your EDI strategy. Hear about best practice, share thoughts and ideas, and network with colleagues from across the UK.
